Borussia Dortmund have become the latest club to be linked with a big money move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to the Daily Express.
Arsenal and Chelsea have both been strongly linked with a move for the powerful forward, but now they look set to face competition from last season’s Champions League runners up.
Atletico have so far shown resistance, and are desperate to keep hold of Costa to aid their title challenge in the second half of the season, but their resolve may be tested with some big offers expected from Europe’s elite.
Chelsea are desperate to sign a striker who will solve their goal-scoring problems, with Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres all misfiring so far this season.
Arsene Wenger also confirmed he is not in the market for a midfielder, leaving funds free for a possible bid for Costa.
The £34million release clause in the strikers contract have alerted a host of clubs, with Dortmund now amongst them.
Jurgen Klopp’s side look set to lose Robert Lewandowski to bitter rivals Bayern Munich, and need to act fast in order to sign a top replacement.
Costa has proved himself to be one of the top strikers in Europe this season, scoring 23 goals in just 20 appearances.
