Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United have joined the race for Aymeric Laporte, along with Barcelona as well as Bayern Munich, all of whom are looking to lure the Athletic Bilbao defender to their club, Express reports.
The highly rated French centre-back has now become one of the most promising stars in the Spanish La Liga, making 35 appearances for his team.
Having only recently signed a contract extension at his club, Laporte is still considering a move to one of the European giants in order for the chance to play at the top level.
Both English clubs have been monitoring the situation of the young player and is believed to be preparing a huge £30million offer to Bilbao, with the intentions of triggering his buy-out clause.
With interest coming from the Barca and Bayern as well, every team needs to be on high alert as the battle for Laporte’s signature begins to heat up.
In a recent interview, the 20-year-old admitted to being honoured at his link with the current Bundesliga champions.
He told L’Equipe: “It’s a dream, Bayern is one of the best teams in the world. But I’m in Bilbao and I have a buyout clause of £36 million.
“Would I consider the option of leaving? I will think, but for now I am calm.”
