Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has vowed to spend this summer although it will have to be after the World Cup, as reported by the Evening Standard.

The Gunners waited late last summer to make their move in the transfer market with Mesut Ozil arriving at the Emirates on Deadline Day and a spell of Déjà vu could come over fans this summer.

Wenger is set to sign a new deal with the North London club after the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month, committing his long term future.

Once that is done, the Frenchman will sit back and watch the World Cup before making any transfer moves for the summer and Wenger expects every other big club to follow suit.

“In my experience in a World Cup year, it has never been done early,” he said.

“Nobody will do anything before the World Cup starts.”

The World Cup ends on the 13th July, leaving a month until the start of the Premier League to get business done.
