Not the most exiting game in recent memory for Gunners or Tigers fans, but the end result was an Arsenal win and three vital points. Two goals, both coming within two minutes of the restarts of each half were enough to  give Arsenal the win.

Hull started poorly when out-of-form Nicklas Bendtner scored his first league goal since his loan spell at Sunderland two seasons ago, when he headed in a Carl Jenkinson cross from the right flank in from close range. The Gunners should have gone further ahead at half time as they created several chances but squandered a number of them. Hull came close too as a spell of possession nearly brought a goal, but unfortunately, they could not find the final finish.

With the score 1-0 to Arsenal at half time, Hull were still well in the game but Arsenal came back out and dented the hopes of a potential comeback when a sleek Aaron Ramsey reverse pass played through Mesut Ozil, who cooly finished to double Arsenal’s advantage.

Hull were very much on the back foot for the rest of the game with the occasional chance to go forward. Steve Bruce seemed intent on not conceding further, and the substitution of Liam Rosenior for Robbie Brady was evidence of that, as well as sending on George Boyd for Danny Graham who yet again failed to score.

Arsenal sent on Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott later on in the match with the latter looking lively when he came on. He was getting in all the right positions while playing in his favoured role through the middle.

The game finished 2-0 to Arsenal - a game in which Arsene Wenger’s squad dominated possession with 67%.

If there was to be a negative coming out of the game, it would be Arsenal’s inability to kill off a match. 20 shots at goal, only 7 on target, with only 2 of those going in.
