Arsenal have completed the signing of Man United attacker Danny Welbeck on a £16million fee, Sky Sports reports.
The Gunners sealed the capture two hours past the deadline after asking for an extension in order to finish the required paperwork.
Welbeck was targeted by several clubs during the summer but United’s signing of Radamel Falcao pushed him down the pecking order even further, forcing a move out of Old Trafford.
Arsenal were desperate to buy a striker after learning that main centre-forward Olivier Giroud is set to miss the entire year with a fractured ankle, and will be delighted with the deadline day deal for Welbeck.
Hull City, Newcastle United, and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were interested all interested in bringing the attacker on loan, however Arsenal went for a permanent move instead.
The 23-year-old has scored 20 goals in the Premier League, as well as playing 26 times for England.
