Arsene Wenger will turn to his homeland this summer as he looks to strengthen Arsenal with a move for Olympique Lyon’s Clement Grenier, that’s according to the Daily Mirror.

Grenier, who made 28 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season and helped his team’s cause with five assists and four goals, was expected to be part of France’s World Cup squad. However, after being named in Les Blues boss Didier Deschamps’ original 23-man squad, Grenier suffered an injury six days before Brazil and Croatia kicked off the tournament and was replaced by Southampton’s, and another reported Arsenal target, Morgan Schneiderlin.

Wenger has asked to be kept updated with the 23-year-old’s recovery from injury and, should the Frenchman be fit for the start of the season, Wenger will make a move for the £7.5million-rated player who can play either in centre-midfield, centre-attacking-midfield or on the left or right of an attacking trio.
