Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has finally admitted that he is ready to extend his stay at the Emirates with a new long term contract, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Arsene Wenger said that talks had broken down over tying the French right back to the club, but Sagna is now set to follow Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla down the road of signing up for the foreseeable future.

Wenger has tried to keep his current squad together before adding new talent to it and with 11 first team players signing new deals over the past 13 months; the Frenchman is true to his word.

The Gunners are desperate to get some silverware and they have genuine chances in both the Premier League and FA Cup this season, something that Sagna is desperate for.

“It would be my first trophy. I've been here for seven years and we haven't won anything so it's a bit embarrassing for the club, the fans and ourselves as well,” Sagna admitted.

“I love Arsenal, I love playing for Arsenal, I love my team.

“Arsenal is the most followed team in France and I remember I used to watch them when I was in France so it was a pleasure to play for them, so why leave?

“It's great here. It was like a dream when I joined the club because I used to follow Arsenal when I was in France and then I had the opportunity to join them and it's a pleasure to play for the team.”
