Arsenal duo face summer exit
Wojciech Szczesny and Thomas Vermaelen could be the latest Gunners heading for the exit door, after a string of bad performances has irritated Arsene Wenger.
Goalkeeper Szczesny is unhappy that Arsenal are looking for a new goalkeeper this summer and has argued with Wenger after he was dropped from the first team against Bayern on Wednesday.
The Arsenal boss stuck by his decision to leave the 22-year old at home after he had concerns about his ‘mental state’ but he has also expressed his disappointment at Szczesny’s recent form, according to The Daily Mail.
Arsenal are in the market for a keeper and are eyeing up Simon Mignolet, Asmir Begovic and Pepe Reina as possible competition for Szczesny.
There is also talk of unrest within the dressing room as Szczesny arrogance is putting his team-mates out, especially as the players don’t feel he has the right to act in that way, given his inconsistent performances this season.
Thomas Vermaelen could also be heading out of the North London club this summer as Wenger is reportedly losing patience with his captain’s bad form this season. The Belgian centre back has struggled to maintain any consistency so far this season and was benched for the game against Bayern Munich, with Koscielny taking his place in the squad.
Wenger is planning a busy summer of transfers and with Barcelona interested in signing Vermaelen they may find it hard not to cash in on the player.
