Arsenal are eyeing up a summer swoop for German ace Sebastian Rode.
Rode currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt and is rated as one of Germany’s best young talents and he is refusing to extend his contract that currently has 18 months to run.
Arsenal face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the £7.5million star, but it is thought that he would “jump at the chance” to play in the Premier League, according to The Sun.
The Gunners boss has previously spoke of the huge amount of talent that there is in Germany at the moment and Rodes is just one of the players that he is rumoured to be interested in.
Wenger has spotted that there is a weakness in the defensive midfield role and the team need a player who can not only help the backline but also create chances for the forwards.
Arsenal are currently in the midst of their most trying season and the board have provided Wenger with cash to spend in the summer to improve the team.
Frankfurt would be unwilling to see Rode go for free next summer so they are likely to sell the star in the summer.
