Everton could miss out on signing Clement Chantome as replacement to an injured Ross Barkley if Arsenal complete their move for Paris Saint Germain starlet Adrien Rabiot, Talksport reports.
Arsene Wenger has already made a £5.6million offer for the 19-year-old and it is believed that a switch could be confirmed as soon as this weekend.
Should he make a switch to the Emirates, Roberto Martinez’s move for Chantome could be rejected due to the player’s role as back up to the first team.
The Ligue-1 giants are not willing to offload two players that play the same role, as it could be costly if something were to happen to Laurent Blanc’s more regular selections.
Sources out of the club have suggest that Blanc’s side will not be letting the likes of Chantome leave if Wenger confirms that the deal for Rabiot has been finalized.
Martinez has been a keen admirer of the French central midfielder, and with the injury to Barkley, his addition will be a huge boost in keeping his side ready for Europe as well as the Premier League.
