Arsenal are currently in talks with Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate, but are battling West Ham United for his signature, Daily Star reports.
Kouyate’s agent Saffet Balkan revealed that Arsenal and Liverpool were chasing for his client’s services during the January transfer window, but nothing materialized.
However he has said they are presently in discussions with the Gunners as well as West Ham, with a host of other European clubs also interested.
Balkan said: “I have met representatives from Arsenal and West Ham over Kouyate in Belgium. We are currently in talks.
“I will also meet with representatives from Galatasaray and CSKA in Istanbul later today to discuss an offer for Kouyate,” he told Turkish-football.com.
Kouyate has been a consistent performer for Anderlecht this season, the Belgium club turning down a bid from Valencia back in January.
Now that the 24-year-old Senegalese international holds a Belgian passport he is able to play anywhere in the European Union without a work permit, thus boosting his appeal.
