Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Didier Drogba’s situation at Shanghai Shenhua, according to The Sun.

The Ivory Coast international ended eight years of playing at Chelsea at the culmination of last season, and left Stamford Bridge to join the Chinese Super League club on a lucrative contract.

However, there are doubts over the financial longevity of the Asian side after an internal upheaval, and there are rumblings that the African Champions League winner could well be on his way back to Europe along with Nicolas Anelka.

Arsenal are having problems scoring goals this season after selling Robin van Persie to Manchester United, and the daily tabloid are stating that Arsene Wenger may well be interested in enquiring about Drogba’s availability.

As yet there has been no news over Drogba’s future and it remains to be seen whether he would consider a move to one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals.
