Former Arsenal star Liam Brady feels the criticism of Mesut Ozil in recent weeks is unjustified, as reported by talkSPORT.

The German international limped out of Arsenal’s defeat at Bayern Munich in midweek at half time and is set to miss over a month.

Criticism has been rife surrounding the £42.5million man in recent weeks for failing to find any sort of form when Arsenal needed it most.

However Brady believes injuries to the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott have played a major part in Ozil’s form.

“Ozil has not deserved the criticism in his first Premier League season. Everybody needs time. He started off really, really well,” Brady said.

“People forget Arsenal lost Ramsey and Walcott at a crucial time. Those players were very good for Ozil.

“Think of how many goals he set up for both of them. With those two players missing it’s made a hell of a difference to his game.

“Arsenal have had a lot of bad luck with injuries in the last few weeks.”
