Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has come out to say that resigning Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona would be a mistake, as the club should focus their finances on bringing in some extra striking options, Mirror reports.
The former English player admits the fact that if Arsene Wenger spends the majority of his funds on acquiring Fabregas, he will just be stuck with a large selection of really good midfielders.
The Barcelona star has had his performance criticised as of late and the Spanish side’s inability to win a trophy last season has not helped his cause.
Parlour believes that the club should take the opportunity to cash in on a high profile striker, so they can match the striking powers of title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
“The problem with Fabregas is where do you put him in the team?
“They have got very similar players to Fabregas – they have Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere – if you bring Fabregas back where do you fit him in?
“He was great for the club but forwards should be much more of a priority.
“You look at Manchester City and Liverpool and they have much better forwards.”
