Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has ruled out the Gunners’ chances of winning the Premier League this season, as reported by talkSPORT.

Arsene Wenger’s side were thrashed 5-1 away at Liverpool yesterday and dropped down to second in the table with Chelsea now at the summit.

The trip to Anfield starts a tough two months for the Gunners with games against Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool again.

That run in would put a dent in any teams title challenge but with a heavy defeat against Champions League chasing Liverpool, Dixon feels the team lack ‘the grit’ to go on and win the Premier League.

“Everybody has been waiting for Arsenal to fall because over recent years they have done, but I’ve seen a difference in them this year, which has been positive,” Dixon said.

“I’d still like to give them credit and say this is a blip but, having said that, they’ve got some massively important and difficult games around the corner, so time will tell.

“But I’m not so sure they’ve got the grit in the centre of midfield which you need to championships.”
