Arsenal are preparing a shock swoop for Liverpool star Daniel Agger this summer, Daily Star reports.
According to reports from Denmark, the Gunners have joined Agger’s former club Brondby and Barcelona in the chase for the 29-year-old defender.
Agger’s future with the Reds looks uncertain with competition for a starting berth in the centre of defence fierce at Anfield after Liverpool secured the signing of Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
And Jan Bech Anderson, Brondby’s chairman, revealed that his club will do everything possible to bring Agger back to Denmark.
“We will work really, really hard to secure Daniel but as he has also said, when he was here with Liverpool, the timing has to be right,” he said.
Despite Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insisting that he does not want the Dane to leave, Agger revealed towards the end of last season he wants regular playing time on the pitch.
Agger stated: “It is no secret that I had problems last season and I am considering things.
“How things turned out last season is not sustainable for me. I am here now and it is up to me to show the coach that I should play.”
Arsenal are looking to bring Agger as a replacement to Thomas Vermaelen, who is expected to leave the Emirates this summer.
