Arsene Wenger might have just been dealt a transfer blow after failing to lure Lars Bender to England, but he is believed to now have his eyes set on Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez, according to Daily Star.
Martinez is rumoured to want a move away from his current club at the end of the season and Arsenal look to be a potential target for the Spanish player.
Reports from Germany have said that the Gunners are currently preparing an offer of around £28-million in order to lure the want away player from the Allianz Arena.
The 25-year-old is said to have fallen out with his current manager Pep Guardiola and asked his agent to take his transfer request to the Bayern board.
The player joined the German side for £32.8-million in 2012, but a reduced fee could bring his services to The Emirates.
Arsenal may face competition from domestic rival Manchester City to acquire his signature as well, but the recent £50-million fine they are facing could halt off any incoming offers.
