Arsenal target Mario Mandzukic with a potential £15 million offer should negotiations with their primary candidate Mario Balotelli break down, Metro reports.
Arsene Wenger is in need of another quality striker to add some competition to Olivier Giroud as he lines up both Balotelli and Mandzukic.
The Italian front man is his first choice pick but the Gunners coach needs to prepare back up selections and would also be open to bringing the Croatian attacker to his ranks.
Mandzukic has already been linked with an exit from Bayern Munich after the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and is said to be available for a very reasonable value.
With the forward playing for his national side against Cameroon last night, Wenger was watching him from the stands where he saw his target bag two goals in Croatia’s 4-0 victory.
The player is said to be interested in a Gunners switch despite heavy interest from Chelsea and Inter Milan.
A formal deal is said to be struck once he finishes his international duties at the World Cup.
