Arsenal target Iker Casillas will continue playing for Real Madrid, forcing Arsene Wenger to look elsewhere for a goalkeeper, Express reports.
The Gunners are looking for a keeper to challenge number one Wojciech Szczesny after second choice Lukas Fabianski left to Swansea on a free transfer.
And Arsenal were planning to make a stunning swoop for out-of-favour Casillas.
Reports from Spain suggested that the London club were extremely confident of landing the 33-year-old, after Casillas became second-fiddle to Diego Lopez under Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.
However the Spain captain’s girlfriend, Sara Carbonero, has quashed all the rumours linking Casillas to a move out of the Bernabeu.
She told Spanish paper El Mundo: “I expect my future to be in Madrid, which is where I am now.”
The two have also recently gave birth to a son, another indication Casillas is unlikely to leave the Spanish capital and abandon his partner and child.
Casillas will be leading his country in their defence of the World Cup, which kicks off this Thursday.
