Jack Wilshere has apologised for being caught smoking during a holiday in Las Vegas, and admits his behaviour is unacceptable, reports Sky Sports.

The Arsenal midfielder and England international was snapped smoking in a hot tub just days after England were eliminated from the World Cup in Brazil, in what is the second time the 22-year-old has been pictured smoking this year.

Wilshere said: “I made a mistake then, and I made a mistake again – people make mistakes.

“I’m young and I’ll learn from it.

“I realise the consequences it has and the effect it has on the kids growing up.

“I’ve got kids myself, and I don’t want them to grow up thinking that their dad smokes and that it’s OK for footballers to smoke, because it’s not.

“It’s unacceptable. I’ll accept the consequences and move on.”

After a disastrous World Cup campaign with England, Wilshere is happy to back in pre-season with Arsenal, and is excited by the clubs transfer business so far this summer.

“This season is a big one for me,” he added.

“I came back to pre-season early to show everyone my commitment and I’m fully committed to the club, and to my job, and I want to show everyone that.

“This year we’ve really been positive, gone into the market and signed a couple of great players.”

I must have missed the change in law that made smoking illegal strange that you’d think it would have been publicized. I accept it may not be the smartest thing for a professional sportsman to do but I hate all this he’s a role model bs .last time I checked we lived in a free country and if someone wants to smoke that is their right
