Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger hopes to make Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar his first signing of the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Cesar has been unable to keep Rangers in the Premier League this season despite some impressive individual displays that has caught the eye of numerous Premier League clubs as well as the big sides in Italy.

The Brazilian international would be keen on staying in England and preferably London but a move away from the relegated Hoops is inevitable as they need to lose his £70,000 a week wages from their wage bill.

The Gunners are desperate to have a stable first choice goalkeeper that they have been missing since the days of David Seaman.

Cesar will not be an expensive move for Wenger as QPR are so keen on getting rid of their stopper but whether the Arsenal boss will break a habit of a lifetime and sign an experienced goalkeeper is another story.
