Arsenal could step up their interest in Daryl Janmaat, who is stalling on contract discussions with Feyenoord, according to reports from The Express.

The right-back is rumoured to be one of a number of targets on the Gunners’ radar for the summer, as they look to replace the soon to be out of contract Bacary Sagna.

The 24-year-old is believed to be keen to make a move to North London, and is willing to play hardball with the Eredivisie side until he learns to extant of Arsene Wenger’s interest.

Janmaat’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2015, but he knows that if he is set to enter the final 12 months of that deal during the next transfer window his value will be more attractive to Arsenal.

Wenger is still hopeful that he will be able to keep Sagna, but with PSG and Monaco rumoured to be willing to offer him a £100,000-per-week salary, he may be unable to do so.

Liverpool’s Glen Johnson has also been mooted as a target, but it’s unlikely that the Reds will be open to doing business with a direct rival.

But Feyenoord will not give up on Janmaat just yet, and are plotting a tempting deal to persuade him to stay in Rotterdam.
