Porto striker Jackson Martinez has admitted that he dreamed of playing for Arsenal when he was younger, as reported by the Metro.

The Gunners are interested in the Colombian forward and this revelation will only enhance their hope of singing 27 year old who has been in fine form over the past 18 months.

Martinez notched a whopping 34 times in all competitions last season and has already helped himself to 15 goals this season, with impressive form in the Champions League being the highlight.

Porto desperately want to keep their main man and so it would take a huge bid, upwards of £30million,  from the Gunners to attract them into negotiations, although the player himself is clearly keen on a January move.

‘I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play,’ said Martinez to reporters.

‘It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me. If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.’
