Arsene Wenger has been interested in Manchester United’s Chris Smalling since his Fulham days and is now looking to prepare a £13 million bid in order to lure him to the Emirates, according to Daily Star.
Smalling has gained interest from Wenger due to his versatility to play both right back as well as center back, and Arsenal believe David Moyes will be willing to sell the defender in the summer.
The 24-year-old has been getting some negative press off the field, with 3 AM night-outs while considered to be injured as well as dressing up like a suicide bomber during a Halloween party – all in which the boardroom are said to be rather unhappy about.
Smalling joined the Red Devils four years ago for £11m in a move orchestrated by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
And a transfer to Arsenal could be a possibility due to the fact that Moyes has been openly looking for a new defensive signing in recent months, with Smalling yet to concrete his place in the first team.
