Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has entered the race with Manchester United for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, writes the Sunday Express.
The Chilean international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer as Louis van Gaal goes about getting his reign off to a strong start. However, Wenger has been quoted as saying: “Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world.
“He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He’s a marathon athlete who plays football.”
Wenger, who is currently working as a World Cup pundit, is planning a £44million move for the 27-year-old which would eclipse the £42.5million Arsenal spent on bringing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid to the Emirates last summer.
You can understand why the Juventus midfielder is in high demand after notching 11 goals, five assists and five Man of the Match awards in Serie A last season despite only making 28 starts.
