Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of Porto star Jackson Martinez, who has publicly spoken of his desire to join the Gunners, Express reports.
Arsene Wenger has been looking for a striker to take the load off Olivier Giroud and has targeted Colombian star Martinez for some time.
It is believed the Gunners manager will trigger Martinez’s £35million release clause to land his man, who scored 60 goals in just 91 games in two seasons at Porto.
And now a transfer looks extremely likely, as the 27-year-old revealed he is an Arsenal fan.
He said: “I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements.
“My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals.
“As a child I cheered for Arsenal, they play a game that suits me. If I had the occasion to play there, I would say yes.”
Arsenal were close to bringing back in-form Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad, but negotiations broke down which coupled with Niklas Bendtner’s departure, meant signing a new striker is a necessity.
