Nuri Sahin, Real Madrid midfielderArsenal’s attempts to sign Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid on loan have hit a snag, according to The Daily Mail.

The Emirates Stadium outfit are eager to bring in a new central midfielder after selling Alex Song to Barcelona, with the Turkey international in Arsene Wenger’s sights.

With Sahin struggling for first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu, Jose Mourinho is ready to let the creative midfielder leave on loan.

The Gunners were expected to beat Liverpool to the playmaker’s temporary signature, however negotiations have broken down regarding an option to make the move permanent next summer.

Sahin currently earns £120,000 a week in Spain, and should a move at that rate be negotiated it would make the Turk the highest paid earner at the north London club.

What is the problem with Arsenal manager?so £120k per week is his problem or what, some gunners rival are paying £200k to £280k per week. I think that will be problem if really Arsenal want to win something this season. Gunner fan 4rm Naiji

This doesnt surprise me one bit, if there is a stumbling block it will be over money.

Wenger wont break the bank of Arsenal to sign a guy looking for first team football, he would rather wait another year take the gamble on him warming the bench and try to get him again on the cheap.

£120 pw are you sure? wages for footballers in spain tend to be lower than here, Fabregas had to take a drop to £50000 pw in order to go back to Barca. Most players coming to the prem from la ligue get a big pay hike, Cazorla has doubled his pay and he is still nowhere near £120 pw.

Arsenal needs to reinforce at a few key positions:
    1. Full back covers > Jenkinson and Santos are not really up to the level of the EPL. A player than can play on both sides would be welcome. Anthony Reveillere of Lyon is available.

    2. Defensive Midfielder > Song is departed. We are left with good box-to-box mids but no real ‘holding midfielder” and we desparately need one since Arteta and Diaby are injury prone and Coquelin is not EPL ready and Frimpong is injured. M’Vila, Biglia, Capoue, Toulalan and De Jong are available. I am a big fan of Capoue who is athletic and has good passing skills for a holding midfielder.

    3. Strikers > We lost RVP and we bought Giroud and Podolski. We are about to lose Bendtner and Chamakh so we would need another striker. Sturridge, Defoe or Gameiro could do the trick for us.

As for Sahin, good acquisition but not needed. We have Wilshere and Cazorla woul could play in that spot.
