Johan Djourou will not be leaving Arsenal anytime soon according to his manager Arsene Wenger. The Daily Mail reports.

The Swiss international has not featured for the Gunners so far this season and is behind Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker in the centre-back pecking order.

He made just 14 starts in the Premier League last season and was linked with a move to Napoli in the summer- something which he has since denied.

But Djourou’s versatility seems to appeal to Wenger, who often shifted the player to right-back at times in the last campaign.

He is the longest-serving player at the club, making his debut in 2004 and has played with the likes of Thierry Henry and Patrick Viera.

It is this loyalty to the club which has impressed Wenger, when many others have sought big-money moves away from the Emirates.

“I didn’t let Djourou leave as I love him as a player, and he loves the club”, the Frenchman told The Sun on Sunday.
