Arsenal are facing an injury crisis ahead of Cardiff City’s visit to the Emirates on New Years Day, with four of Arsene Wenger’s regular starters ruled out, reports the Daily Mail.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on Tuesday that Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Keiran Gibbs will all definitely miss the game, whilst Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky and Thomas Vermaelen are all doubtful.
The Gunners boss also claimed he was looking for something ‘special’ in the winter transfer window, with a striker to compete with Olivier Giroud believed to be the priority.
Giroud has led the frontline for the first half of the season almost on his own, and claimed the Gunners do not need to bring in another frontman in January.
When told of Giroud’s comments, Wenger said: ‘Would you expect anything else? We have to give him credit. He has a fantastic combative attitude. We have a great confidence in him.
Wenger also confirmed the club would not be making a bid for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, after the Gunners had two official bids rejected in the summer.
Wenger added: ‘We won’t approach for Suarez. He has signed a contract. (Nicklas) Bendtner is back (Lukas) Podolski is back.’
