Two rapid-fire Arsenal goals have put Arsenal in the driving seat in the Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park.
First up, in the 35th minute, Jack Wilshere took Nacho Monreal’s pass on the edge of the box and stroked home inside the far post. In under a minute later, the goalscorer then turned provider, picking out Olivier Giroud to allow the Frenchman to control impressively and rifle home.
As it stands, Arsenal top the table.
Here’s what Twitter made of the first half’s key moments…
I know I’m critical of giroud but recently he has been missing chances he should of been putting away. #COYG

sorry but Arsenal still need a striker better than Giroud — Sam Thompson (@samthompson7) January 13, 2014
Delph had to at least hit the target from there : #AVLARS

“Delph, like a startled wildebeest, panics and shoots wide. The final third is not his natural environment, he prefers tackling” #Delphwatch

Ozil pass slices open Villa defence, Monreal pulls it back, and Wilshere finishes with confidence. — gunnerblog (@gunnerblog) January 13, 2014
Monreal? More like ‘Monreally good ball into the box for Wilshere to finish superbly’

Wilshere superb. Just took a knock but got on with it, finishing off a good Ozil-Monreal move, then great pass to Giroud: 2-0 to #afc.
