Aston Villa are one of a number of sides chasing out-of-favour Manchester City striker John Guidetti, according to reports from The Metro.

The 21-year-old has long been hailed as one of the Sky Blues’ most promising talents for some time, but is yet to make any sort of impact at the Etihad Stadium, despite having joined the club under Sven-Goran Eriksson in 2008.

A successful loan spell with Feyenoord – during which Guidetti netted 20 goals in 23 outings – led to rumours of an increased first-team role, however a series of injuries and the presence of many big name players saw him slide down the pecking order.

Villa chief Paul Lambert is believed to have been paying close attention to the Scandinavian of late, with a potential move for his signature next month being weighed up.

A loan switch is a possibility, with City believed to be willing to let their man move on with his chances of breaking into Manuel Pellegrini’s side slim.

But the Villains may face competition from Serie A giants Lazio and Inter Milan, who are both pondering offers for the youngster.

Liverpool have also been linked with Guidetti.
