Athletic Bilbao are looking to the reinforce their squad with the addition of Arsenal duo Mikel Arteta and Nacho Monreal, Metro reports.
With places in the Gunners line up highly competitive, it is believed that the club would be willing to offload players who have fallen down the pecking order.
The La Liga side is especially eyeing the likes of Arteta to come in to replace Ander Herrera, who left the club to team up with Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
Arsene Wenger is also trying to negotiate a deal to bring Sami Khedira to the Emirates, meaning that the Spaniard’s place in defensive midfield will be under huge jeopardy.
Monreal is also being targeted by the Spanish club after failing to make an impact ever since his move the previous January.
However, without any proper back-up in left back position, Wenger will not be willing to sell the 28-year-old unless he can bring in an adequate replacement.
