Chelsea have moved closer to agreeing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, after the Spanish club lined up a move for Carlos Bacca as a replacement, according to the Daily Star.
Chelsea have been trying to agree a deal with their Champions League semi final conquerors for months, and now it appears it could be edging closer.
Reports have suggested a deal could involve Romelu Lukaku – who is set to return to Stamford Bridge having enjoyed a successful season on loan at Everton – moving in the opposite direction, as well as goalkeeper Thiabult Courtois extending his stay with the Champions League finalists for another season.
Costa has a £32million buy-out-clause in his current contract, whilst Lukaku is valued at £24million after another impressive season.
But now new reports in Spain suggest Atletico have made a move for Sevilla ace Carlos Bacca, a forward who is valued at £25million.
The same reports also suggests that a tentative agreement has already been struck between both clubs, although nothing will be announced until the end of the season in Spain.
Atletico are still fighting for an incredible La Liga and Champions League double, and hope that success will persuade Costa to stay in the Spanish capital.
