Atletico Madrid are currently in negotiations to sign Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle after losing a majority of their players to the London side, Daily Mail reports.
Despite recently adding the World Cup trophy to his cabinet, the 23-year-old attacker has found it hard to secure a place in the Blues’ starting line-up.
Usually deployed on the flanks, he is currently in competition with Eden Hazard and Willian, who are the usual the picks for the winger role.
He has also been used as a false number nine in the previous campaign when Jose Mourinho was lacking a goal scoring striker.
However, with the additions of both Didier Drogba and Diego Costa, Schurrle could be dropped to fight for a place in the star-studded midfield once again.
Mourinho revealed that he wasn’t keen on selling the player, with the German star also hoping to stay at Stamford bridge.
“I want to win titles with Chelsea and we have an opportunity this season,” he told The Sun.
“I need to take the experience of this summer and make the next step at Chelsea, to step up and play a big role this season with the confidence I have.”
