Atletico Madrid look very likely to lose star striker Diego Costa to Chelsea in the summer as they now turn their heads to Alvaro Negredo to lead their attacking line, Mirror reports.
The Manchester City star was playing some of his best football during the first half of his previous Premier League campaign during the absence of an injured Sergio Aguero.
However, when the Argentine returned to full fitness, Negredo once again became his back up and also had to compete for a place with Eden Dzeko for the forward role as well.
The Spanish champions could make a big money move for the City player in order to replace Costa, who could very well be on his way to England.
Diego Simeone will also possibly allow his current striker David Villa to leave in order to free up some funds to bring Negredo to Spain.
In addition to Negredo, Simeone is also believed to be targeting the club’s former star Fernando Torres from Chelsea as well as out of form Roberto Soldado from Tottenham Hotspur.
