Atletico Madrid are planing to reinforce their squad by making moves for Arsenal duo Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal after seeing many of their stars leave for England, Metro reports.

They have lost Diego Costa and Filipe Luis as well as on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtios, all of whom have made a switch to Chelsea.

The La Liga champions are looking to rebuild and sees the Gunner’s pairing as the ideal candidates to join the squad as they look to defend their Spanish title.

Monreal has seen very limited playing time, usually behind Kieran Gibbs in the left-back role and could be on his way out as Arsene Wenger prepares to sell him for around £8million.

Elsewhere, the recent acquisition of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona adds to a long list of high-profile midfielders on the team-sheet, so Diego Simeone is keen on making a move to ensure Cazorla becomes a first team regular for his side.
