Manchester United look to be boosted by news that Atletico Madrid will accept offers of around £23million for defender Miranda, Metro reports.
With Louis van Gaal revealing his intentions of bringing in a few more defensive reinforcements, the Brazilian’s availability may force him to halt interest in other targets such as Mats Hummels or Thomas Vermaelen.
He faces competition from Barcelona, who are also keen in strengthening their back line despite recently signing Valencia centre-back Jeremy Mathieu.
Miranda was part of the squad that won the La Liga title last season, which saw the team have the strongest defence in the league as well.
United are in desperate search for more central defenders especially due to the fact that Van Gaal will most likely deploy a three-man back line.
Currently, the Red Devils only have three senior players capable of playing in that position; being the likes of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones.
