Mario Balotelli has been caught up in a controversial race storm that occurred in Italy this weekend after AC Milan’s vice president Paolo Berlusconi referred to him using the N-word.

The younger brother of the former Italian prime minister and Milan president Silvio, made this comment about Ballotelli at a political event in Monza on Saturday. He was attending a political rally of ’The Freedom of the Peace and he was discussing Balotelli’s debut that was occurring that afternoon.

Berlusconi’s controversial comments were filmed by reporters and later caused uproar in Italy when released on an Italian news website. The incident has come just weeks after Kevin Prince-Boateng walked off a football pitch in protest of racially abusive comments from the crowd. Prince-Boateng was highly supported in his action by his team, peers and even Silvio Berlusconi commended them, saying he believed that there should be a zero tolerance policy on racism.
