Barcelona will begin negotiations with Liverpool over an estimated £80million deal for controversial striker Luis Suarez, Daily Mail reports.
Reports claim that Liverpool officials, which includes managing director Ian Ayre, will meet Barcelona’s director of football Raul Sanllehi in London to discuss the transfer.
After Suarez received a four month football ban from FIFA for his bite on Giorgio Chiellini, the Catalan giants are attempting to lower the 27-year-old’s asking price to around £60million.
However the Reds are staying firm on their valuation of the Uruguayan, but will be open to negotiations if Chilean star Alexis Sanchez was added to the deal.
Sanchez, valued at £35million by Barca, was the undoubted star of Chile’s impressive World Cup campaign, which saw them unluckily knocked out of the tournament in a penalty shootout against Brazil.
Suarez recently apologized to the public for his disgraceful act, which was viewed warmly by Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.
“Suarez has shown he is humble enough to admit an error, which is very important,” he said.
The former Ajax striker is also looking to reduce his four-month ban by working alongside Spanish lawyer Juan de Dios Crespo to possibly play for Barcelona early next season.
