Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has dismissed talk that the Spaniards will sell Cesc Fabregas this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.
With the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta playing less and less football, Barcelona are keen to keep boyhood Catalan lad Fabregas in La Liga.
United made two approaches to sign Fabregas last summer when David Moyes was in charge and new boss Louis van Gaal is set to reignite interest after the World Cup.
Fabregas enjoyed his best years when at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger could tempt the midfield man back to the Emirates.
Maria Bartomeu doesn’t want to let Fabregas or any other player leave this summer.
“We don’t want to sell players,” Maria Bartomeu told Onda Cero
“Barca do not want to sell Fabregas or any other players that may appear to be on the market.
“Mascherano is a key player on the field, he stays at Barca.
“Xavi’s contract ends in 2016 and he has two more years with the club. Coaches rely on experience for the future, and he has been at the club for 16 years.”
