Despite Luis Suarez’s latest biting controversy, the Liverpool star is still a summer target for Barcelona, Mirror reports.
The Catalan club are preparing a massive £80million bid to land the Uruguayan striker, an offer which could also include one of either Alexis Sanchez or Pedro Rodriguez.
Suarez is currently facing a worldwide ban from FIFA after being accused of biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, but this has not dissuaded Barcelona’s interest.
While Real Madrid have dropped their pursuit for the 27-year-old, Barca are ready to offer Chile’s Alexis Sanchez to sweeten a possible switch.
Liverpool are also interested in Barcelona’s Spanish winger Pedro, who could also be used to meet the Reds’ valuation of Luis Suarez.
However personally, Suarez is in a losing battle as sportswear giant Adidas are looking to terminate their contract with the former Ajax man after his disgraceful behaviour.
His Uruguayan based defence is also in denial, as his lawyer, captain, and football association are adamant the event is a media conspiracy.
Alejandro Balbi, an Uruguayan FA member, stated: “We don’t have any doubts that this has happened because it’s Suarez and, secondly, because Italy was eliminated.
“There’s a lot of pressure from England [also eliminated from the same group] and Italy. We’re polishing off a defence argument.”
A verdict on the incident should be announced before the end of the week.
