Ezequiel Garay

Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay has announced his intentions to move to the Premier League by signing up with ‘super-agent’ Jorge Mendes according to the Daily Mirror.

Mendes has manufactured Cristiano Ronaldo’s, Nani’s and Anderson’s moves from Portugal to Manchester United in recent years and is seen as the go-to guy to move to England.

United would be interested in taking Garay at a cut price deal as the Argentinean is seen as one of the best defenders in Europe and with Rio Ferdinand coming to the back end of his career and Nemanja Vidic a shadow of the player he was last season, the deal makes sense.

Agent Mendes has come in for some heavy criticism from the press and fellow agents in Portugal as allegations of poaching players continue to follow him.

Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly dealt with Mendes in the deal to bring Bebe to Old Trafford despite the player’s original agent protesting the move.
