Blackburn have released an official statement confirming that captain Christopher Samba is not for sale.

The central defender has impressed for under-performing Rovers over the last number of seasons, and has emerged as a transfer target for QPR and Tottenham.

Despite signing a new long-term contract recently, Samba has expressed his desire to leave Ewood Park, and stated that he felt his time in Lancashire was over.

However, Blackburn have confirmed that Samba is not for sale, and will not be leaving the club.

"Blackburn Rovers reiterate that team captain Chris Samba is not for sale," the statement reads.

"The player signed a new contract with the club less than a year ago which runs to June 2015."

Steve Kean had confirmed that the club received offers for Samba last week, most likely from QPR, but turned away the advances.

Samba missed the game against Fulham last weekend, supposedly due to illness, and it remains to be seen whether or not he will feature against Everton this Saturday.
