As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers reckons Moussa Dembele is of a quality to lead France's international attack over the next decade.

What's the story?

Moussa Dembele showed again what an amazing player he is with a second hat-trick in as many games on Saturday, this time skewering Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup.

Brendan Rodgers believes he is so good that he can go right to the top of the game. Speaking before Dembele helped thrash Inverness, the Celtic manager made a bold prediction about his star's future.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said:

I’ve worked with some top young talents. I took Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan at 19, Raheem Sterling at 17, Suso I put in the team and he’s at AC Milan now. Moussa is up there with the big talents. There’s no doubt in the next decade he’ll be leading France and be a real reference for the full national team.

The 20-year old is of course an exciting young talent, but does he have what it takes to lead the attack of one of the world's best international outfits?

Is Rodgers correct?

Brendan Rodgers is of course well placed to make a prediction such as this, especially as he has worked with some of the biggest names in football. Casting an eye on his claim, he might not too far from the truth.

Don't forget that Dembele is already a star performer for France's U21 side. Yes, that level is not of a standard to be the basis of cast iron certainties, but it's certainly a good indicator that he can be an international force in the future.

The Celtic striker has scored four times in four appearances for that U21 side and has youth caps going all the way back to U16 level. It's clear the French football hierarchy rate him.

If he continues the trajectory he is on both at Celtic and internationally then it can't be too long before Didier Deschamps thinks about giving him his first full France call-up. Only then will we know if he has what it takes to become a national hero.

One thing's for sure though, he has a great chance of it and you can see why his manager praises him so highly.
