Cardiff City have entered the race to sign Cagliari centre back Davide Astori, according to the Daily Mail.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned his attentions to the Italian international – who has also been linked with Southampton and Manchester United – after being rebuffed in his efforts to sign Lazio’s Michael Ciani on Thursday.
Astori began his career with AC Milan, and has been capped seven times for Italy.
Manchester United manager David Moyes reportedly went to watch him in action against Juventus earlier in the month, whilst Tottenham have also scouted him in the past.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer has also opened talks with Hamburg midfielder Tommy Rincon, over a cut price move to south Wales.
Cardiff have already completed the loan signing of Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, and hope to add another couple of new additions on deadline day.
Zaha’s move took longer than expected, with the winger arriving at St George’s Park on Sunday for a medical, but no news followed for the remainder of the week.
But Zaha took to his Instagram account to confirm the move, posting a photo of himself in his new Cardiff gear, following his first training session.
