As reported in The Sunday Post, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has quashed any suggestions that his side will go unbeaten until the end of the season.

What's the story?

Celtic extended their incredible unbeaten domestic run to 32 games on Saturday with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Scottish Premiership strugglers Hamilton Academical.

It was also a win that extended their league winning run to an amazing 21 games, just four short of the 25 game feat achieved by Martin O'Neill's team in 2003/04.

However, Rodgers doesn't believe that's form that will continue until the end of the season.

As quoted by The Sunday Post, Rodgers said:

Listen, like I said before, we will lose a game, for sure. What we have to do is just resist as much as we possibly can. Perform how we want to, and if we do that then we can’t do any more. I know it is boring and not what you want to hear but I tend to really look at the next game. It (the record) is a few games away and football is so difficult to forecast. Saying that to the players would absolutely be contradictory, it would add pressure.

Will the Celtic Park boss be correct in his assertion or is this just his way of protecting his players?

Is he right?

As Rodgers noted himself, telling his players that they could go the entire season unbeaten would add pressure to their performances and ultimately their results. At least in public, you can understand why he would be hesitant to add the hype.

Privately he must believe though. Celtic are on an absolute tear and only one or two sides have even looked close to threatening them in a match.

With the prize of a treble of trophies on hand, it could be a historic season regardless of the unbeaten record but if they can do that too it would become one of the most famous domestic campaigns in the club's history.
