Manchester City are still interested in signing Fiorentina winger Allesio Cerci according to talkSPORT and are set to continue their efforts to bring him to the club in January.

Big spending City were linked with the Italian during the summer transfer window but were unable to strike a deal with the Serie A side but Roberto Mancini hasn't given up on bringing him to the Etihad Stadium.

The 24-year-old has been in sparkling form the Viola since joining the club in 2010 and admitted he is flattered to be linked with a move to City but concedes his current focus is on playing football at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

He said: "It was a real pleasure to be linked with a club who are as important as Manchester City, but Fiorentina are my present and future."

Despite insisting he is happy at Fiorentina it's thought that a move to the Premier League is possible with City favourites to clinch his signature ahead of a clutch of La Liga teams when the window re-opens in January.

Mancini is keen to bring in his fellow countryman to the Premier League undeterred by the fact he already has Adam Johnson, James Milner, David Silva, Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero who can all operate out wide or as part of a three pronged attack.
