Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has hinted that he may leave White Hart Lane in the summer if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Spurs are currently on course for a top four finish but after missing out controversially last season, Bale is not willing to go two years without top European football while producing the form he is currently showing.

The North London club are bracing themselves for respectable bids from Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer as Bale has become one of the hottest talents in Europe.

The Welshman only signed a new deal at the Lane last year so it would take a mega bid to prize Spurs into negotiations but Madrid especially are massively keen on bringing the 23-year-old to Spain.

Bale scored twice yesterday in Tottenham’s vital home victory over improving Newcastle as well as notching for Wales in midweek against Austria.

“Yeah (Champions League), that’s our target for the season so we’re going to aim for that and see what happens,” Bale told talkSPORT.

“Papers talk. People talk but all I’m concentrating on is putting 100% in on the pitch for me and my team.

“At the end of the season we want to get Champions League football and every player wants to be playing in the Champions League.”
