Charlton Athletic’s Diego Poyet could be on his way to Stamford Bridge after rejecting to extend contractl with the club in favour of a move to the English Premier League, Daily Star reports.
The midfielder, who is the son of current Sunderland boss Gustavo Poyet, became a star player at his current club after producing a string of strong performances towards the second half of their campaign.
He was also named his side’s player of the season, but looks set to reject his new deal with the hopes of joining his father’s former club, Chelsea.
Apart from the Blues, he has also been linked with a switch to Manchester City as well as making a move to team up with his father at the Stadium of Light.
The 19-year-old has been urged by the board to remain at the club, but his decision to turn down Charlton’s negotiations have hinted that he could well be on his way to the Premier League.
