Chelsea backup goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has signed a new one-year deal amid the departures of Cole, Lampard, Eto’o and Hilario, Express reports.
The former Fulham shot-stopper joined the Blues on a free transfer last summer and although only making 12 starts, is continuing his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Schwarzer knew he was to play second-fiddle to Petr Cech in the last campaign, but could very well be playing behind Thibaut Courtois next season.
The Belgium goalkeeper looks likely to return from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid, which could force Cech to look elsewhere for regular-playing time.
Meanwhile with the transfer window now open, the Blues have confirmed the exits of five players, which are: Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Hilario, Samuel Eto’o, and Sam Hutchinson.
But with these departures, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has already begun his squad overhaul by signing Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas and agreeing a £32m deal for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa.
